Prayer Letter: November 2017
Dear Praying Friends and Family,
Thank you for praying for us this month. We pray that you had a good Thanksgiving time and counted the Lord’s blessings in your lives. God’s been too good to us to number and continues to provide for us even though we aren’t always aware of what He’s doing behind the scenes. We’ve heard of people getting our tracts from hundreds of miles away, and we’re not sure how they got them. While passing out tracts this week, I saw someone take a tract and then drop it on a nearby ledge. Someone else passed by and took it and began reading it. The Lord is keeping the door open in Ukraine, even as the war in the East continues. Fighting still continues daily, with reports coming in about the wounded and dead. So far, the war has claimed at least 10,000 souls.
We’ve been going out to pass out tracts on Thursdays with a brother named Sasha. He comes into Kyiv from another city about an hour and a half away. We’ve been staying around various subway stations where people pass by the hundreds. Jehovah’s Witnesses are visible all around with their false Gospel, yet Bible believer’s are few and far between. Although the weather hasn’t been very harsh yet, people are less willing to stand around and talk. Nonetheless, we are able to give them tracts and they hear a verse or two of Scripture as they pass by. We’ve been able to give out a lot of tracts, invitations, and other booklets in the last three weeks.
A few weeks ago a couple complained to me about the banner we were holding and the preaching on Hell, and I was able to talk to them both for 10 minutes about the Lord. The husband is in seminary of a branch of the Catholic church called the Greek Catholic church, but, like the majority of Orthodox and Catholics, did not believe that a person could know for sure where they are going after death. After telling them that the Bible offers assurance of salvation,
In another humorous instance, a man who claimed to be saved complained while we were neither holding banners nor preaching on Hell, just passing out tracts. Basically, some people don’t want us to do any kind of public witnessing, so you can’t really win! Lord willing, with His help and the prayers of the saints, we’ll continue witnessing for the Lord anyway and anyplace we can.
Until His return,
David and Naomi Lohman
