Prayer Letter: November 2016

Dear Praying Friends and Family,

Thank you for your support and prayers for us in Ukraine. I hope that you all had a good time of Thanksgiving recently and reflected on God’s provision and blessings. We serve a great God who gives us so much to be thankful for, the greatest of which is salvation through Jesus Christ. In an unstable world, we have an excellent opportunity to show the lost our steadfast anchor of hope in the Rock.

We have had some good times witnessing to people on the street. One day, I offhandedly brought some English tracts with me, along with the Russian and Ukrainian versions. Sometimes people may take English tracts, as they enjoy studying the language, but we don’t always bring them. On this day, however, I got to meet a German national who only spoke English, and a Chinese student who also spoke only English. The German man initially refused a tract, as he didn’t speak Russian, but was happy to get one in English and talk about salvation. The Chinese student came close to accepting Christ, but he wanted more time to read the Gospel tract and consider his eternity. Pray for these two men as they read the Scripture from the King James Bible in the international language of English, as well as the many others who receive tracts in Ukrainian and Russian. We received some 2017 daily calendars, where each day has a corresponding verse from the Bible and a few paragraphs dealing with salvation or Christian living. Many people have taken them, especially people working at the outdoor markets. They often sit in one place for the entire day, plus several hours each day on public transportation, so are happy to have the reading material. We pray for these people to receive Jesus Christ as their Saviour through the Gospel that they read and the witness that we speak.

We had a good service for Family Day at church. The preaching emphasized the importance of family, and the greater importance of belonging to the family of God through salvation. We had guests from out of town and visitors from other parts of Kyiv, and a good meal after the service. Naomi and I are thankful for all the love and support that our friends have shown to us in the past year, and are looking forward to serving the Lord in the time and area that He gives us. Please let us know if there is anything we can pray for you all about. We’d like to keep our friends, family and churches in our prayers, and we are grateful for your friendship.

Love in Christ,

David and Naomi Lohman
