Prayer Letter: October 2016
Dear Praying Friends and Family,
Thank you again for your prayers and support! Thank you for praying for the harvest service. It was a great time of thankfulness for the Lord’s provision. We have much to thank the Lord for. We had a small turnout from the villages, but a good turnout altogether. We will continue evangelism in the small villages outside of Kyiv. Even though during the colder months, people don’t stay around to talk as much, we will continue to sow the seed and do what we can to witness for Jesus Christ.
It is always interesting witnessing for Christ on the street. One slightly inebriated man told me that he stopped believing in God after his parents’ death. He bought me a cup of coffee and we talked for about 30 minutes, during which he told me that he was still Orthodox even if he didn’t believe in salvation. Many Ukrainians believe that they are Orthodox through their nationality and baptism, even if they do nothing in life spiritually. Another young guy named Yuri helped me pass out tracts for 10 minutes after telling me that he wasn’t saved. He got to hear the Gospel as we worked together before he had to leave. Continue witnessing for our Lord; it would be a shame if more people got the Gospel in a week from an unsaved person than from you who are saved!
I had the opportunity to speak with an English class and give my testimony. Ukrainians are always interested in why an American would come here to live, when so many of them want to go to America. That is always an open door for witnessing and telling people what Christ has done in my life and Naomi’s life. The Lord will lead you to some interesting places, but always give you the heart to go and tell people about salvation through His Son.
Please pray for the project to translate the King James Bible into the Russian language. It has been a labour of many years, and by God’s grace it is drawing to a close. Pray for the translators involved, and every aspect of the process. If you would like more information, you can write to us, but we appreciate your prayers for this effort.
In the upcoming month, we will be preparing and inviting visitors to Family Day at church. We are praying for more souls to be saved and for saints to be edified. Thank you again for your care and prayers for us.
Love in Christ,
David and Naomi Lohman
