Prayer Letter: June 2016
June 2016
Dear Praying Friends and Family,
Thank you again for your prayers and faithful support for our labor in Kyiv, Ukraine. The Lord has given us a good month; safety, health, and of course the continuing joy of salvation through Jesus Christ.
Lord willing, our wedding will take place on Saturday, June 25th. Naomi and I are joyful to begin our life together. The Lord led us to each other years ago, and we both found ourselves going in the same direction spiritually, with a heart and calling to the people of Ukraine. Naomi’s family was able to fly in for the first time to Ukraine. My parents and grandmother were also able to fly in from America to join us. Sadly, my sister was unable to make it, as we realized too late that she had a five year expiration instead of a ten year passport. She has been active for years at a Russian-speaking church in Knoxville, TN, and has been a big help to me. We look forward to her joining us again soon, helping with missions and being a blessing. Please pray for us, as some unsaved family members will have the opportunity to hear the Gospel in the wedding service and Sunday services after.
While keeping busy with the wedding arrangements, we have been able to stay active during the last few weeks witnessing and passing out tracts and invitations to church. A young couple named Artyom and Anya demonstrated the average reaction to the Gospel here. When I asked them if they knew where they were going when they died, they evaded the question and said that they were Christians. When I asked them how they became Christians, they said that they were born and baptized into the Orthodox church, and lived decent lives. To many people all over the world, living a “good” life is all they want to think about as the walk closer to an uncertain eternity after death. While it’s sad that people walk away indifferent to their spiritual future, we pray that the seed we’ve sown will bring fruit in someone’s life in the future.
Please pray for our future plans for next month: we will be preparing for a summer camp for the local children, with Bible institute and revival week to follow. We will be active inviting local kids on summer break, not only to the activities and lessons, but most importantly to give them an opportunity to be saved.
Thank you for your prayers!
Love in Christ,
David Lohman
