Prayer Letter- September-October 2015
September-October 2015
Dear Praying Friends and Family,
Thank you again for your prayers and support. It has been a blessing to hear of a few more churches that have been burdened to support us for the work in Ukraine. Please continue to pray for the remaining funds and for meetings in the upcoming months. I will be concentrating on meetings for 2016 in the late winter and spring. Pray that I would be able to get meetings and have continued safety. The Lord has blessed in the last few months; providing my needs and for safety on the road. I had a good time of encouragement in meetings in Ohio, New York, and Maine. A special blessing was to see Pastor Craig Lathrop in East Millinocket, ME. Bro. Craig has been fighting cancer for many months, and recently got the encouraging news that his cancer is in remission! Remember Bro. Lathrop, his family, and the Tri-Town Baptist Church in prayer. It’s encouraging to serve the Great Physician and see Him work in the lives of people around the country.
In between deputation meetings, I will be working on language studies, to strengthen Russian comprehension and also work on the Ukrainian language. Ukrainian is spoken by approximately 30 million people, compared to 260 million Russian speakers. In terms of the number of people that can be reached, Russian is a very important language to minister in. Ukrainian, however, is deemed to be the national language by many in Ukraine, and working on the vocabulary would make daily life easier in some ways, as well as speaking in areas where Russian is not spoken as much. An uneasy ceasefire is continuing in the eastern part of the country, as the world’s focus turns to Russian involvement in Syria. Russia’s influence in Ukraine is far from over, however. Continue to pray for believers and missionaries serving there, to proclaim the Gospel while the door is still open.
I have posted another video presentation, and it can be found at this address: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cV0PyzZcilo. Please pray for upcoming meetings in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana. Pray also for the remaining months next year before I leave in the spring, that the Lord would open doors and provide along the way. Pray for wisdom to make the right decisions and to follow the Lord’s leading both in the States and in Ukraine.
In Christ,
David Lohman
